Every operation has its own material, equipment, and brand standards, and your bulk bags should match. At Palmetto Industries, we manufacture fully customizable FIBCs built to your exact specifications.

Print, construction, lift loops, SWL, dimensions, certifications — every component is configurable. No off-the-shelf compromises.

Bulk bags built to your spec

When you need bulk bags that fit your product, your filling line, and your brand, a stock FIBC rarely cuts it. Palmetto manufactures custom bulk bags from the ground up, engineered around your material's flow characteristics, the equipment moving the bag, the environment it ships through, and the compliance standards it has to meet.

Our team works directly with buyers and engineers to spec the right bag, source the right fabric, and produce it in the volumes you need. If you want to understand the technical differences between FIBC types and construction styles before you spec your bag, our types of FIBC bags guide covers the full breakdown.

What you can customize on your bulk bag

Every part of a Palmetto FIBC is configurable. Below are the main areas where buyers most often customize, and what's available for each.

Print & branding

Turn your bulk bags into a brand asset. We print logos and graphics on up to all four sides of the bag, with custom ink colors matched to your brand standards (including PMS matching). Placement options include full-panel prints, banner strips, and corner marks.

Compliance markings, such as UN ratings, food-grade certifications, lot and batch numbers, and handling instructions, can be printed directly onto the bag fabric.

Bag style (body construction)

Choose the body construction that suits your product and stacking needs:

  • 4-Panel: Industry standard. Four panels sewn together with a single bottom panel. Holds shape well when filled.
  • U-Panel: One piece of fabric forms three sides; two additional panels complete the bag. Strong construction with fewer seams.
  • Circular: One continuous tubular panel forms all four sides. No vertical seams, ideal for fine powders.
  • Baffle: Internal fabric baffles sewn into each corner help the bag retain a square shape. Stacks more stably and holds up to 30% more product in the same footprint.

Top construction

How the bag is filled changes how the top is built. Options include:

  • Open top: Standard, fastest to fill
  • Duffle top: Lightweight top panel with a drawstring closure
  • Spout top: Cylindrical fill spout sewn to the top panel
  • Spout top with flap: Spout plus an additional fabric flap for added coverage
  • Conical spout top: Conical fill cone for guided, controlled filling

Bottom construction

Discharge design determines how cleanly and quickly your material comes out:

  • Plain bottom: Sealed, no discharge mechanism
  • Discharge spout: Standard cylindrical spout for controlled emptying
  • Conical discharge spout: Funnels material toward the spout for clean discharge
  • Discharge spout with flap: Spout plus a protective outer flap
  • Duffle bottom: Full-width panel for rapid full-drop discharge

Lift loops

Loop construction affects how the bag is moved and how compatible it is with your handling equipment:

  • Corner loop: Sewn into the corner seams
  • Cross-corner loop: Sewn into the side of the bag
  • Single stevedore: One strap through all four loops
  • Double stevedore: Two straps through each pair of loops
  • Sleeve lift: Polypropylene sleeves for fork insertion
  • Loops can be made in custom colors to match your branding or to color-code product types across a facility. Loop length is also configurable to match your fork or crane setup.

Capacity, SWL & dimensions

Bags are built to your Safe Working Load requirement and sized to fit your pallets, containers, or filling equipment. Standard production runs at a 5:1 safety factor, with 6:1 available for UN-certified hazardous materials applications. Whether you need 500 kg or 2,000 kg capacity, we engineer the bag to your spec.

Additional specs you can choose

Beyond the core construction choices, the following can be customized to match your application:

  • Coated or uncoated polypropylene
  • Fabric weight (GSM) tuned to your load and durability needs
  • FIBC liners: polyethylene, foil, or food-grade
  • Food-grade construction for direct food contact applications
  • UN certification for hazardous materials transport
  • Document pouches sewn to the bag exterior
  • Anti-UV treatment for outdoor storage
  • Ventilated/breathable fabric for produce and agricultural products
  • Filling skirts, tie-downs, and dust covers
  • Color-coded fabric for at-a-glance product identification

Choosing the right FIBC type

FIBCs come in four types based on how they handle static electricity. The right type depends on your material and the environment you're filling and discharging in.

  • Type A: Standard woven polypropylene with no static protection. For non-hazardous materials in non-hazardous environments.
  • Type B: Low breakdown voltage fabric that prevents propagating brush discharges. For dry flammable powders where no flammable solvents or gases are present.
  • Type C: Conductive, groundable bags with interwoven conductive yarns. For flammable powders in environments with flammable vapors, gases, or combustible dusts. Must be grounded during use.
  • Type D: Anti-static bags made from CROHMIQ fabric. Safe in flammable environments without the need for grounding.

Not sure which type fits your application? Our team will spec it for you based on your material, environment, and handling process.

How the custom order process works

We've kept the process straightforward. Here's how a custom bulk bag order moves from first conversation to delivery:

  1. Consult: Share your material, environment, handling equipment, fill and discharge process, and target volume. Our team will ask the questions needed to spec the bag correctly.
  2. Spec & quote: We build a full spec sheet and provide pricing tailored to your production run.
  3. Sample or proof:  Approve a print proof and, where needed, a physical sample before we go to production. No surprises on the production line.
  4. Production & delivery: Bags are manufactured to your spec and shipped on the confirmed timeline. Reorders use the same approved spec, so subsequent runs move faster.

Industries we customize for

Palmetto produces custom FIBCs for buyers across:

Each industry has its own demands: moisture sensitivity in food, static protection in chemicals, abrasion resistance in mining, UV stability in agriculture. We've spec'd bags for all of them.

Why Palmetto for custom FIBCs

  • 25+ years of manufacturing FIBCs and bulk packaging
  • In-house engineering and design support from spec through production
  • Direct manufacturer — not a reseller, so pricing and lead times come straight from the source
  • Global production capacity to support both pilot runs and high-volume contracts
  • Full compliance with UN, food-grade, and industry-specific certifications

Custom Bulk Bags FAQs

To get an accurate quote, provide the material being stored or transported, target safe working load (SWL), required bag dimensions, top and bottom construction needs, any required certifications (UN, food-grade), printing requirements, and estimated annual volume. The more detail provided upfront, the faster Palmetto Industries can return accurate pricing.

Yes. Print proofs are provided for approval before any custom order goes to production. Physical samples can also be produced for certain orders, particularly larger contracts or applications requiring specific performance testing. Sample availability and timing are confirmed at the quote stage.

Custom bulk bag pricing depends on several factors: bag style and construction, fabric weight, SWL rating, print complexity and number of print sides, certifications required, liner specifications, and order volume. Higher volumes typically reduce per-unit cost. Palmetto provides itemized quotes so buyers can see how each spec decision affects pricing.

Yes. Once a custom spec is approved and produced, it's saved on file for future reorders. Subsequent production runs use the same approved specification, so reorders move faster and don't require re-proofing print artwork unless the design changes.

Safe working load (SWL) is the maximum weight a bag is rated to carry under normal use. Safety factor is the ratio of the bag's tested breaking load to its SWL — a 5:1 safety factor means the bag is tested to hold five times its rated SWL before failure. Standard FIBCs use a 5:1 safety factor; UN-certified bags for hazardous materials require 6:1.

Yes. Palmetto Industries manufactures custom bulk bags for domestic and international shipments. Bags can be produced to meet specific country-of-destination requirements, including UN certification for hazardous goods, food-grade compliance for export markets, and documentation needs for customs clearance. Specify your destination market during the spec process.
